We have discovered over much trial and error that it is almost always better to hire “brains and character” over experience. By using a strong screening process and our training program, we figured out how to find associates who can use their aptitude and discipline to quickly pass up (in a matter of months) even the most seasoned employees at other firms.
We bring this up b/c we see so many Realtors and loan officers engaged in “crisis hiring,” where they are looking for anybody with experience to fill a gap in the short run. It is far cheaper and more effective in the long run to hire smart people and train them.
