The following quote was emailed to us by a PhD engineer from Cal: “I’d 100% recommend your firm; class act all around.” This is not just JVM/Opes touting ourselves again (even though we love doing so). We bring this up b/c the borrower is a first time home-buyer shopping for financing.
He came to JVM/Opes first b/c of our YELP reviews and we went through our entire education process with him. More importantly, we gave him honest scenarios and rate-quotes, based on current market conditions.
The borrower spoke to another lender who gave him ridiculously low “low-ball” quotes; that lender knew that he did not have to honor the quotes b/c the borrower was nowhere near getting into contract. When our borrower figured this out, he was disgusted with the other lender and he appreciated JVM/Opes that much more.
Our Point: Beware of “low ball” quotes. Lenders can and do quote almost anything when they know a borrower is far from getting in contract.
Sub-point: Honesty really is the best policy.
