When The Smartest Employee Is Your Worst Employee? Wrong DISC

We rely heavily on “DISC” Personality tests for hiring. D = Decisiveness; I = Interactive; S = Stabilizing; C = Cautious. The tests weight employees’ personalities in the different categories.

We had a super smart employee who was sky-high “D” and “I,” but his “S” and “C” were in the cellar. He could not have been careful or cautious if his life depended on it. He just wanted to engage people and sell.

Our mistake was trying to get him to do admin work during his down time (when he was not on the phones), and it was a comical disaster. Stupid us, and poor him.
