When I was an econ major in college, there was a girl who was in almost every one of my econ classes and I don’t think we ever exchanged more than three words. She sat in the front, and I sat in the back. She was prim, proper, polite, social and energetic and she participated in every discussion (and her grades were excellent). I was far too A.D.D. at the time to even know what was going on, let alone participate in any discussions.

I thought she was from another planet, and she probably thought I was a Neanderthal (she was mostly right :).

In any case, I used to sometimes wonder what happened to that girl, but now I know. We hired 16 people just like her.

I tell this story b/c we are looking for a lot more girls from the front row to hire. If you know any, please let us know ASAP.

I should add that we are not at all averse to hiring “men from the front row” too (we just hired another in fact). It is just that women seem to more often meet our desired DISC, academic and personality profiles. We do not ever look for a specific gender, just for the record.

And finally, in hindsight, I wish I had been a lot more like the girl in the front row.
