JVM Moved; Beware of “Rock Star” Offices and Managers

A major mortgage bank was recruiting us several years ago and Heejin and I met with a senior manager. She had a giant office that was pretty much a shrine to herself, and the only pronouns she used when discussing business were “I,” “me,” and “my,” implying that she did everything herself.

She scared the bejeebers out of us and we ran screaming from the building. OK, not quite, but we had learned to avoid people like that in the mortgage industry. Invariably their egos get in the way of efficient, fair and level-headed interaction – no matter what they promise up front.

I tell this story b/c JVM has moved to a bigger and better location on the first floor of our building, with no “rock star” offices :). I confess that I might have had a “rock star” office upstairs, but only b/c I inherited it from the previous tenant.

If any readers saw my former rock star office, they can now be comforted by the fact that I work from more modest digs in an office dedicated solely and only to extraordinary service and work-flow efficiency.

Our address remains the same: 1850 Mt. Diablo, Walnut Creek, CA, and our new Suite # is 140. Visitors are welcome!

Our Office Warming Party is scheduled for Thursday Evening, April 7th. Save the date.
