We have several borrowers (buyers and refi candidates) who are spending an enormous amount of time trying to figure out what to do – buy, sell, refi, etc. – and they will probably miss the boat altogether. I also know many Realtors and small business people who spend way too much time trying to get marketing campaigns or business plans perfectly before launching them (and end up never launching anything).
This reminds of the old adage: “Done is better than perfect.”
I can think of numerous major projects we launched at JVM, long before they were “perfect,” just to make sure we got them off the ground.
Our “profit sharing” program is a great example. It was a total debacle when we first launched it, but then we just tweaked and tweaked it. And now it is the best thing we ever did (the subject of a future blog).
