Steven Pressfield’s “The War of Art” is a short, excellent book that everyone should read.

He states that everyone should view his work as his “art.” And that people should work hard for its own sake, not to get rich. He also talks about how everyone has “fear” and how fear is a good thing b/c it motivates.

My favorite part, however, is his focus on “resistance” b/c I see so many people in real estate mired in resistance. He defines resistance as doing anything other than focusing on one’s actual and necessary work.

His examples of “resistance” include 1. Attending training and “rah rah” seminars; 2. Excessive celebrating of achievements; 3. Obsessing with anything like cleaning, exercising, etc.; and 4. any other form of procrastination.

His point is to get to work, doing what you need to do and what you do best, and to ignore everything else.
