In 1893, Chicago hosted a hugely successful “World Fair” where governments, companies and individuals showcased the most promising technologies of the time.
Scientists and inventors were asked in a poll to name the technologies that would most influence the next hundred years.
And – not one person named the automobile. They simply didn’t see it coming.
I love this story b/c it is another excellent example of how none of us (“experts” included) have any clue about the future.
This is just something to think about as we see predictions everywhere about what will happen to the mortgage and real estate world in 2018 and beyond.
Digital mortgages? The return of sub-prime? Higher rates? The effects of the new tax law? Inventory Shocks? Fintech? Web-based brokerages?
Nobody knows.
We are very excited about 2018 and we fully intend to just keep making biscuits no matter what happens :)
