“OK BOOMER” = WORD OF THE YEAR
As an official baby boomer (born in 1962), I love to make fun of millennials, oblivious, of course, to how much they make fun of me back.
According to this recent WSJ article, the phrase “OK Boomer” is likely to become the “Word of the Year.” The author claims that “the phrase has been embraced as a handy retort to mock anyone stodgily complaining about kids today.”
Coincidentally, I found out the day before I read the article that the millennials in our office use the phrase all too often in response to my comments. 😊
So, perhaps I should “stodgily” make fun of millennials less? Naaahh.
With that said, I do appreciate millennials immensely, as they largely run JVM; they are extremely tech savvy; they learn quickly; and they are very conscientious, among many other good things.
One of the things I love most about millennials though is their ability and willingness to make fun of pretty much every aspect of pop culture with memes, GIFs, comments and much else.
Last week was case in point on our “Ugly Sweater Day” when most of our Walnut Creek office provided a rather amusing “Dunder Mifflin” impression.
As a reminder, Dunder Mifflin is the fictional paper company from the TV Show “The Office.” Our team in the above photo is doing a very Dunder-Mifflin-esque unsynchronized group-jump, and the short Instagram video left me chuckling all weekend.
