We receive similar comments often. This is no accident of course, as it is a major service proposition of JVM.
Everyone is hired to, trained to and expected to manage ALL of their tasks skillfully without missing anything, and to respond promptly (within 60 minutes) with very clear communication.
We focus heavily on academic skill when hiring and are sometimes chided for it. But, we have discovered that for admin-heavy positions with a very large number of tasks and projects to manage, academic skill is a necessity.
We also look for congeniality and time-management skills, but academics cannot be ignored for positions that require an immense amount of admin work and communication.
