Angry Competitor Gives Us Nasty Fake

Back in the olden days (circa 2004), when loan officers ran up against tough competition they had to buckle down and offer lower rates and better service to compete.

In 2019, not so much. Now they just leave nasty fake Yelp reviews.

What is amusing is that the loan officer clearly didn’t do his homework before leaving the fake review (explained below), and he is clearly unaware that we can track our website visits and therefore make a very well-educated guess as to who left us the review.

THE FAKE REVIEW:

“I am a veteran with a disability. I talked to “Taylor Walton” on the phone about refinancing and when I told him I wanted the best rate possible, he got angry at me and told me in an angry voice that the rate he quoted me was the best he could do, and there was nothing else possible. I hung up and called another lender because of his bad attitude. Taylor Walton should be fired!!!”

Why The Review Is Obviously Fake:

  1. The reviewer references “Taylor Walton” but Taylor is a Business Development Officer (BDO), and our BDOs never speak with borrowers – ever. They work with agents only, and I think Taylor’s only actual offense was meeting with an agent who used to work with “Mr. Fake Review.”
  2. Our VA rates are extremely low. We have never had a VA borrower who was anything less than enthralled with our rate offerings and our service.
  3. Taylor is the nicest man I have ever met, and I am certain he could never be angry with anyone – particularly a veteran looking for a loan.

In short, the review is ridiculous and it both amazes and amuses me that someone would stoop to doing this. Fortunately, the review was filtered so it is not doing too much damage.

We are still working with Yelp to get it removed, as something that blatantly wrong and slanderous should not be posted anywhere (filtered or not).

I also just wanted to address the review head-on in this blog in case anybody does happen to see it.

I might add that this is not our first fake review too. This is just a hazard of doing business in 2019.

Here is a short article that addresses fake reviews and what can be done.

As a final interesting point, Yelp refused to remove the review, despite its very obvious falsehoods, b/c “it does not violate any content guidelines,” so we are appealing to a higher authority within Yelp.
